about the book....

Carly Smith came by her trust issues honestly. She's been at the mercy of merciless men, ignored by law enforcement officers who should have helped her, and seemingly rejected by her family. She can't even trust herself to do the right thing. Though she is working hard on building a new life, the past continues to haunt her when she discovers that the man she couldn't bring herself to report to the police is still out there, luring vulnerable girls under the guise of being a modeling agent.

When her own niece is kidnapped, Carly must overcome her fears and come forward with the information she has. But if that proves to be too little, too late--she'll have to go after the perpetrators herself.

my review....

Patricia Bradley continues to offer up one winning novel after another with her "Memphis Cold Case" series of novels! Just as I raved about the third novel in the series, I can offer up equal praise for this fourth novel, a book that held me in its grip from start to finish. From the first scene, Carly won my sympathy and my heart as she struggled to find freedom from the most harrowing circumstances imaginable. I can't begin to appreciate the horror of being caught up in the world of sex trafficking. Bradley does an excellent job of depicting that world without miring the reader in feelings of hopelessness, because Bradley allows the reader to cheer on the characters as they find the courage to overcome the past.

Readers who are looking for romantic overtones in the books they choose will definitely enjoy the journey that Carly finds herself on and the way that love enters her life. Likewise, they will also appreciate Carly's spiritual transformation as she struggles with forgiveness, but in God's strength finds the power to do so.

Bradley doesn't let up the pacing from the get-go as she throws one twist after another at the reader, resulting in a book that entertains in every way. I am certain that readers who are eager for anything labelled "romantic suspense" will be certainly pleased with this novel. I award this book a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend you grab a copy (and the entire series if you haven't yet tried these books).
