Plumb EXHALE cover

about the album....

EXHALE, the seventh studio album from acclaimed multi-genre singer, songwriter and author PLUMB, expresses a new focus and vision. After the runaway success of NEED YOU NOW (the album, title track and book), which coincided with her own moving story of brokenness and ultimately healing, Exhale brims with worshipful songs of gratitude and hope.

The defining concept of EXHALE was born from a sermon at Plumb’s home church, wherein her pastor Pete Wilson expressed the notion that the Church doesn’t exist for itself. Rather, believers come to church to breathe in grace and truth, be changed, and then go out and “exhale” that hope into their surrounding community.

“That idea of exhaling hope hit me right away and I couldn't get to the Notes section on my phone fast enough. I started writing the chorus of Exhale right then and there,” explains Plumb. “I have been made new by the ultimate hope, and I want to share and exhale that hope in every way I can.”

my review....

Although I've been a fan of Plumb for a long-time, her song "Need you Now" (from her sixth album) is what placed her on my "absolutely must listen to this artist" list. So I have been greatly anticipating her seventh studio album, "Exhale", and I am happy to report that this album was definitely worth the wait! The songs are so well written, with deep and moving lyrics, accompanied by melodies that will leave you humming the songs under your breath all day long. Plumb has written an album that allows us to peer into the corners of her heart, showing that God met her in her brokenness, and that God can meet us where we are at too.

I love the mix of different instruments featured on this album, and they wonderfully accompany Plumb's voice in song after song. My top 2 favourite songs are actually the first two songs on the album. The title track, "Exhale", is one that I've listened to over and over, as my body can't help but move along to this catchy tune, and my mind can't help but claim the power of the words of this song. In Exhale, Plumb celebrates the fact that "No matter what you've done or who you are, Everyone is welcome His arms". She encourages listeners to surrender everything to God and get lost in His embrace, but also reminds us we exist to share God's love with others. My other favourite song is "Lord I'm Ready Now", another song where Plumb celebrates surrender to God. And did I mention the deeply worshipful song, "Great is Our God"? If there is any song on this album that will usher you right into God's throne room, this is it! The music and lyrics will have you closing your eyes and lifting your hands in prayer (not recommended while driving...).

"Exhale" is a wonderful compilation of songs that praise who God is, and will leave listeners brimming with hope and ready to share God's love with the world around them. I have greatly enjoyed this album, and encourage you to get a copy today!

I award this album 5 out of 5 stars.
