If I Run PK

about the book...

Casey knows the truth. But it won’t set her free.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they have failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up. Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices. The girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

my review...

When you consider that Terri Blackstock has written dozens of entertaining novels, you may think that I'm making an unreasonable claim that "If I Run" is simply the best Blackstock book I've ever read. But I compel you to pick up a copy and argue otherwise! The writing, and the suspense, is top-notch, and the very first sentence completely pulled me into the story such that I was held captive for the next few hours until I turned the final page. As I followed Casey through this intriguing story, I couldn't help but cheer her on for her pluck and courage and ingenuity as she sought to stay under the radar of those trying to hunt her down. She and Dylan are both fantastic characters and I couldn't get enough of them. In fact, I have only one complaint about the book. I didn't notice that this book is only the first one in a series, and so I picked it up expecting to have everything at least somewhat neatly wrapped up in a bow by the end. But wouldn't you know it but that I got to the end, and I simply wasn't ready to be done with Casey and her story because part of the plot is left hanging! With a book this good, I am not sure how Blackstock can follow it up with something quite as riveting. Regardless, I will be first in line to get the next book in the series, and will have to plan to carve out some reading time when I do. If it is anything like "If I Run", I simply won't be able to put it down no matter what's going on in the world around me.

Fans of Terri Blackstock will no doubt absolutely love her latest release. The characters are fantastic, and the story is gripping from start to finish. Definitely add this one to your collection! 5 out of 5 stars.
