about the book....

Intensity. Skill. Tenacity.
The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all.

When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians to protect his son. But when Wade's bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap.

Olivia's skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade's stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him--including Olivia. But in her mind, even more dangerous than the threats to her life is the hold her handsome client has on her heart.

my review...

The first book in the Elite Guardians certainly does not disappoint! As a reader who loves a good suspense novel, I can attest to the fact that this book kept me on the edge of my seat as I raced from one action-packed scene to another. Eason does a fabulous job at ratcheting up the tension from chapter to chapter, as she reveals more clues about the perpetrator and the truth about Wade's past. I quite liked how Olivia and her crew of body guards are depicted as such strong, capable women, characters that woman of all ages will be able to admire as they step out to use their skills in the way God has called them to do. While I don't pick up these sorts of books for the romance, but rather for the suspense held within the pages, I appreciated how Olivia and Wade are able to work through the hurts and disappointments both have dealt with in their lives, and find the possibility of steadfast love in each other. There is nothing too mushy that will turn off male readers, and so even those readers who don't typically turn to romance will enjoy this book. I also quite liked the addition of Wade's daughter Amy to this story, especially as she is able to face her anxieties and find out that she is far stronger than she even realized. While a mistake she makes leads to grave consequences, God is able to take a tremendously difficult experience and bring good from it. As with the author's prior books, she does a great job at weaving her very real and personal faith into the pages of this book.

Lynette Eason continues to provide entertaining novels that are filled with great characters, clean romance, and nail-biting suspense that will keep readers engaged long after they should have turned out their lights and gone to bed. I award this story 4.5 out of 5 stars and encourage you to pick up a copy today!
