my review....

"The Royal Chef at Home" is more than just a collection of taste-bud pleasing recipes, but is a fascinating journey through McGrady's own seasons of life and experiences. I think this may be the first time that I've cracked open the cover of a book of recipes and found myself torn between examining the delicious looking meals and reading through the vignettes from the chef's life that accompany each chapter! It is clear that a lot of thought and care has been put into this project, and readers will be blessed as they are guided towards using food to create lasting memories for family and friends.

Any recipe book I own must pass the first test of having lots of pictures to accompany the recipes, and I can assure you that the photos lying between the covers of this book are simply beautiful. My mouth was literally watering as I viewed photos of the "Peach & Basil Pavlova" or considered the "Ganache Chocolate Egg Cakes". Even writing these words make me eager to create these delicious dishes! And the recipes themselves are truly fantastic. One of my worries had been that McGrady's recipes would be too technical for the average cook like me, but I can assure you that the ingredients are ones you will be familiar with (for the most part), the directions are easy to follow, and the results are superb.

Darren McGrady has offered up a recipe book that is an absolute treasure. Not only will you be cooking like a top-notch chef, you will also be taught to celebrate some of the best moments of life as you cook for the ones you love. I encourage you to add "The Royal Chef at Home" to your kitchen shelf - it simply must be experienced! I award this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
