Mesmerizing: "The Masterpiece" by Francine Rivers

Packaging

Roman Velasco has risen from the ashes of his youth and has reborn himself as a successful Los Angeles artist. His bank accounts are overflowing, one night stands happen with ease, and he seems to have everything he wants. But his newly hired personal assistant, Grace Moore, quickly realizes that his soul remains troubled and that nothing seems to satisfy the great Velasco. Grace's own secrets similarly have her chained to her past. As their lives begin to intersect, both move towards a freedom and a future that neither could have imagined.

Quite honestly, "The Masterpiece" may just be my favourite novel of Francine Rivers yet! The plot will satisfy both your desire to be entertained and the need of your soul to be fed. I was quickly drawn into both Roman and Grace's lives and loved getting to know these characters, who have been skillfully brought to life on the pages of this story. Both of their past childhoods were unexpectedly intriguing and let me tell you that tears flowed more than once as I witnessed the hurt and pain that both of them experienced. Francine Rivers has done a truly beautiful job at weaving the gospel into the plot, demonstrating the power of Jesus to heal pain and hurts and bring wholeness to people's lives. As with prior stories of hers, I am amazed at her ability to make spirituality an integral part of the plot where it is not just an add on to what takes place but is utterly transformative in these character's lives. I closed the final pages of the book feeling truly blessed and inspired by this powerful story, and wishing that I could start it over again - and indeed, I am confident that I will be picking up this one soon to enjoy once more!

"The Masterpiece" is one of those stories that is going to stick with me for some time to come. I am confident that fans of her prior novels will love this one, and those who have yet to pick up one of her novels will be equally pleased. I award this book a high rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
