Set against the glorious backdrop of the cities and hillsides of Italy, "Glittering Promises" transports readers to a time and a place that is so delightful they won't want to leave! Featuring the same cast of characters that readers have come to know and love, Bergren's latest book is a satisfying conclusion to the Grand Tour series. The book breathes with romantic tension as Cora must examine her heart and determine where her love lies. Moments of suspense are again paired with romantic interludes and scenes exploring the rich history of Italy. Although the first book in the series is definitely my favorite one overall, this book comes in second place for me, as things are brought full circle, with some surprises thrown in along the way. I enjoyed watching Cora experience significant growth as a character, as she faces hardship and pain but realizes that God stands faithfully by her side. Her faith is much more sure and strong than in the prior book, and the woman who emerges by the last page is one that will definitely serve as an inspiration to the female audience who will primarily be reading this book. I though the plot flowed along nicely, and while the book is definitely on the longer side, my interest remained engaged throughout. I closed the final pages feeling like this book and the entire series offers up some excellent entertainment, that will also encourage people in their faith along the way as well.

If you haven't yet read a book in this series, I would encourage you to start at the beginning and dive into all three! They are worth it. As for "Glittering Promises", I give it a solid recommendation and a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
