Lynn H. Blackburn has crafted a high-octane suspense novel that will keep you guessing as you devour chapter after chapter. I was initially drawn to this book because of the intriguing world of underwater investigators, and I can confirm that this premise satisfies in every way as the body found by the dive team in Lake Porter sets in motion a series of events with totally unforeseen consequences. I enjoyed the mounting tension that grows over the course of the novel as the key players are racing to uncover who exactly is behind the murders. Books where I am just not quite certain of who the villain is are the best kind, and such is the case here! The scenes are chock full of action, and the plot well laid out from beginning to satisfying end. And those readers hoping for a touch of romance are going to love the way that Leigh and Ryan bring their long-standing friendship full circle, with endearing moments and a dash of humour thrown in as well. Blackburn has also introduced a cast of supporting characters who are every bit as intriguing as Leigh and Ryan, nicely setting things up for future books to come. The socially awkward but brilliant Sabrina has already endeared herself to me, and I am certain that the book she stars in is going to be fabulous!

"Beneath The Surface" is a great addition to the world of Christian romantic suspense, and a very strong beginning to the "Dive Team Investigations" series. I am confident that readers will enjoy the book for its delightful mix of suspense, romance, and characters you will grow to care about. I award the novel a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
