about the book....

One body may be an accident. A second body means murder.

The old Chandler place should be empty. The magnificent Victorian mansion is for sale, even if its aged owner Miss Fonda doesn't realize it. But when real estate agent Geraldine Harper enters the house on a sunny October day, she's not alone. Minutes later, there is a body at the bottom of the steep steps leading to the tower room.

Deputy sheriff Michael Keane is called in. At first blush, it looks like the death was a tragic accident, but clues point to foul play. And when a second body is discovered, the race is on to find the culprit . . . before someone else dies.

my review....

You can't help but read a book like "Murder is No Accident" and then look with new suspicion at people around you, as you realize that not everyone is as they seem! Gabhart introduces this third novel in the "Hidden Springs" mystery series with a terrific opening chapter, and though I didn't find this book as riveting as the second in the series, it offers up a solid mystery indeed on a number of different levels. The writing moves at a good place, and there are plenty of great characters to hold a reader's interest as their personal lives intertwine in intriguing and often unexpected ways. Most importantly, "Murder is No Accident" features a return of the characters we've grown to love in the prior books, particularly Deputy sheriff Michael Keane, his aunt Lindy, and Michael's childhood soul-mate, Alex. And, for readers eager to find out if Michael and Alex would ever make a decision about whether they should move forward in their relationship or lay it to rest once and for all, I can tell you that Gabhart has delivered! Now, whether you will encounter what you were hoping for is up to you to find out by grabbing a copy of this book for yourself.

I continue to enjoy this new genre that Gabhart has ventured into with this mystery series. Her characters are utterly likeable, the mystery in each book is well developed, and I am left at the end of each book eager for more. "Murder is No Accident" is certainly no exception, and I hope Gabhart will continue to put her great writing skills to use with more Hidden Springs novels. From my perspective, I'd be happy to return again and again to revisit these characters and see what other secrets are just waiting to be uncovered in Hidden Springs! I award this novel a solid rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
