A solid addition to the series: "Castle on the Rise" by Kristy Cambron

Weaving together three different story lines between the present day, the 1916 Easter Rising, and the 1798 Rebellion, "Castle on the Rise" will sweep you away to the shores of Ireland. Cambron gently connects you to three strong women dwelling in each time period, from Laine in the present as she recovers from her wounded marriage while trying to support her friend; to Issy, who uses her photojournalist skills to capture the Easter Rising; and finally, Maeve, who discovers a mysterious stranger on the castle grounds. As each woman experiences life and loss and heart-ache, she also discovers love and courage and faith in the midst of it all.

Cambron's rich prose and attention to detail will transport readers to a different time and a different place, and give them a fresh appreciation for Ireland as well as the history that has unfolded there. I haven't read prior books about Easter Rising and so I appreciated the historical details that emerged in the pages of the book. I do have to caution that I found it a tad difficult to keep all of the different characters straight as each chapter moves from one time period to the next. This made the pace of the story a little slow for me. But the journey was well worth it as Cambron ties everything together over the course of the story, and a triumphant tale emerges of overcoming hardship, something readers will definitely be able to relate to. The themes of love and romance will warm the hearts of those who take the time to get to know these characters and follow the path they are on.

A story that will appeal to Cambron's growing list of fans, "Castle on the Rise" is a solid tale that I give a rating of 4 out of 5 stars to.
