about the book....

She's the Only Witness to a Brutal Crime. Now She Can't Outrun the Target on Her Back.

Prosecutor Sophie Dawson has taken a new role at the Fulton County DA's office, and her first case involves a local bank employee who may be cheating customers. She's determined to bring justice to those who've lost their savings . . . but her life is turned upside down when she becomes the only witness to a double homicide involving a vengeful gang.

With her life at risk, friends and family convince her that she needs protection, and private security guard Cooper Knight is hired as a bodyguard. But as threats escalate, neither Cooper nor Sophie knows whom they can trust.

Unwilling to back down on either case, Sophie pursues the truth at any cost. But her bank litigation gets more complicated by the day, and the gang will stop at nothing to keep her from taking the stand. With all sides closing in, steadfast Cooper is the only man she can lean on. But drawing close may be the distraction that costs both of their lives.

my review....

The second novel in the Atlanta Justice series will soon have your heart racing as Sophie faces down one threat after another...and battles her growing feelings for her bodyguard Cooper at the same time!

I quite enjoyed the story line of this novel, as Rachel Dylan has added a unique twist by making Sophie not only a lawyer in her own right, but also a star witness after she witnesses a double homicide. I haven't considered before what it would be like for a prosecutor to find themselves on the other side of the witness stand, and I liked how human and relatable this made Sophie appear as she fights nerves and makes mistakes along the way. The scenes of suspense add a great underlying tension to the story, and Dylan does a good job of keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they work to figure out who are the good guys and who the bad guys are. The journey towards the satisfying conclusion is filled with many unexpected moments! As a Christian reader, I thought Dylan did a fine job at weaving faith into the story as the characters live out their beliefs in their day to day lives, and in the midst of frightening circumstances too. Readers will also appreciate that while there are some definite romance scenes, there is nothing inappropriate but rather a real and growing affection and love that grows between the characters. Nothing proves whether feelings are real so much as going through an ordeal together, and Cooper and Sophie certainly did that!

"Lone Witness" is another great addition to the Atlanta Justice series, and I am looking forward to the third and final book in the series coming in 2019! The suspense is on point and the characters are the kind you will have fun cheering on as they work towards the truth. 4 out of 5 stars.
