A book that pulses with supernatural suspense: My review of the 13th Tribe by Robert Liparulo

"They had stopped aging, stopped dying...destined to forever walk the earth without ever being with Him in Heaven" (The 13th tribe).

For 3500 years, 40 people forever-cursed for their transgression have been wandering the earth. Their sin? Worshipping the golden calf at the foot of Mt. Sinai, too impatient to wait for Moses during his encounter with the one true God. Forever banished from their people, they formed the 13th tribe, seeking to carry out God's judgment on sinners in a quest for redemption. Weary of their endless sojourn, their warrior spirits finally become paired with modern warfare technology, giving them what they see as their greatest chance at redemption yet through the annihilation of a major city. Only one man, Jagger Baird, stands in the way, as he's unexpectedly drawn into the battle when the very lives of his family are threatened.

Robert Liparulo has crafted an absorbing read, a book that pulses with supernatural suspense, and captivates with twists and turns unveiled through a wild ride through past and present. The members of the 13th tribe are both horrifying in their misguided beliefs and actions, and fascinating in who they represent, a group of lost souls in need of God's grace. The pacing is impeccable, and the uniqueness of the story one that will long stay with me. Even better, near the end the author threw in a twist I truly didn't see coming - and I usually anticipate the twists! I've read many books by Robert Liparulo, but this is my favorite one so far. I'm left craving more, and hope the Immortal Files series sees the soon return of Jagger Baird and the final members of the 13th tribe!

I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
