Help My Unbelief - Open up my eyes, Lord!





So often, I hear amazing stories of faith, of miracles happening around me, and I realize that my belief is so small in comparison to others. My eyes are fixed on the world, and focused on my own abilities, rather than the power of God. 

"God", I cry, "Open my eyes! Let me see the world as you do!"

And you know the amazing thing? He really does honour that prayer!


Suddenly the smelly homeless person in line next to me becomes a man that God deeply loves, and as I engage in conversation I don't even notice the smell any more! Suddenly I can play a role in nudging that man towards the cross.


The cancer my aunt has becomes small in the eyes of God, and I can trust Him for healing, for peace, for miracles.


My anxiety over the unbelief of my friend becomes replaced by faith that God is going to MOVE, that He's going to unmask their eyes and lead them to belief in Jesus.


Are YOU doubting that God hears your prayers? Then take comfort, because the Bible shows, and history shows, that God can do the impossible. When you pray, the answer may not always be what you were expecting or even hoping for. The answer may take longer than you'd like. But it will be good, because God can do nothing less. 


Ephesians 3:20 states,

"(He) is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,"


When you look at the problems in your life, are you looking at them with that promise in mind? Or are you believing lies that aren't from God?  Lies like these:


My marriage is dead - I might as well walk away

I have no job - I can't provide for my family

I'm addicted to pornography - I'll never get free


Don't believe these lies. Rather remember his promises, that HIS POWER is at work in you! The same power that raised Christ from the dead! He WILL meet all your needs according to His glorious riches. He can do even more than you ask - so ask away.

And if you are just stuck in a place of unbelief, go read Mark 9, where a father comes to Jesus to ask him to heal his son who has an evil spirit. The father certainly doesn't have some perfect faith that would compel Jesus to hear his cry for help. But he says to Jesus:


"I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!


And Jesus does!

So Jesus CAN heal your marriage. He CAN help you provide for your family. He can FREE you from pornography. He can do MORE than you can ask or imagine.

Will you pray that prayer, for God to help you overcome your unbelief?
