An utterly timely, powerful novel: "Delayed Justice" by Cara C. Putman

Delayed Justice

Criminal defence attorney Jaime Nichols has spent years using her voice to ensure that every accused person she represents is given a fair trial. But after finding healing and the strength to raise her own voice, she decides to take the steps to tell the story of the abuse she suffered in her past, abuse from an uncle who is in the national spotlight. Her decision sends her down a perilous path with unexpected consequences that place her very life in danger. Only with the support of her close friends, including a new friendship with retired veteran Chandler Bolton, can she face the danger head-on.

"Delayed Justice" is another stellar novel from Cara Putman and a fine addition to the Hidden Justice book series. After the recent events involving a nomination to the US Supreme Court this past fall, this book seems utterly timely, exploring a difficult issue in a way that gave me a fresh perspective on historical sexual violence. Putman has crafted a novel that seems all too real, with characters you can't help but admire. I appreciate the way that Jaime grows over the course of this novel, confronting her fears and finding freedom in doing so. Her spiritual journey was one that I particularly enjoyed as it is portrayed so very well and in a manner that felt inviting for the reader to enter into. A reader who didn't know Jesus wouldn't be turned off by the way faith is portrayed but rather would be encouraged to explore for themselves what faith in God is all about. As a reader who most loves suspense novels, I quite enjoyed the tension that ratchets up over the course of the story, and thought the action-scenes were done well. And the romance is done just right, with an ending that all will enjoy.

Not only will Putman's fans be pleased with this story, but she is sure to garner a new flock of readers eager to read whatever next comes from her talented pen. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
