about the book....

Sometimes love hurts--and sometimes it can heal in the most unexpected way.

Camden Grayson loves her challenging career, but the rest of her life could use some improvement. "Moving on" is Cam's mantra. But there's a difference, her two sisters insist, between one who moves on and one who just keeps on moving.

Cam's full-throttle life skids to a stop when her father buys a remote island off the coast of Maine. Paul Grayson has a dream to breathe new life into the island--a dream that includes reuniting his estranged daughters. Certain Dad has lost his mind, the three sisters rush to the island. To Cam's surprise, the slow pace of island life appeals to her, and so do the locals. One in particular: Seth Walker, the scruffy island schoolteacher, who harbors more than a few surprises.

my review....

As I dove into the latest story from Suzanne Woods Fisher, I tried to put myself in the place of these characters and imagine how I would feel if my father suddenly told me he'd bought an Island and that he expected me and my siblings to join him in restoring it! Right then and there I knew I was going to be in for a delightful ride, and Fisher does not disappointment.

Filled with drama of the best kind, moments of humour, and the type of romance that will leave a smile on your face, "On a Summer Tide" is thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end. Now, there were a few moments where I was annoyed by the interactions of the sisters, but it is entirely possible that this is because Fisher has so perfectly captured the sort of family drama that we can all find ourselves in the middle of. Each sister has a personal struggle to overcome in her own way, an element of which the reader will no doubt recognize in their own lives. But Fisher has done an excellent job at drawing this family together and forcing them to face what's been going wrong - and discover what's going right at the same time. As the story drew to a close, with a couple of twists thrown in for good measure just to keep me on my toes, I found myself wishing that I was truly able to join these characters as they worked to not only restore Camp Kicking Moose but to find the heart of their family at the same time.

On a Summer Tide is a great start to the Three Sisters island Series, one that will capture the hearts of Suzanne Woods Fisher's ever growing fan base. I award this novel a solid rating of 4 out of 5 stars, and look forward to what lies in store for the residents of this remarkable island. (And as a side note, I truly challenge you to read this book without getting seriously hungry for every dish that Blaine whips up!)
