Riveting: "Chasing the White Lion' by James R. Hannibal
about the book....
In Talia's world everyone has an angle and no one escapes unscathed
But as Talia and her elite team of thieves con their way into the heart of the Jungle, inching ever closer to syndicate boss the White Lion, she'll run right up against the ragged edge of her family's dark past. In this game of cat and mouse, it's win . . . or die. And in times like that, it's always good to have someone watching your back.
my review....
Whooo-eee! Buckle up, because James R. Hannibal's latest novel hurtles readers forward with an action-packed plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, especially in the final chapters. It is quite the follow-up to the first book in the series, "The Gryphon Heist", which first introduced us to the elite team headed up by the enigmatic Tyler. But though Tyler definitely plays a lead role on the team, it is Talia who steals the show with her determination to stay true to her faith no matter the circumstances, and to advocate for the most vulnerable.
"Chasing the White Lion" features a cast of characters that together make up one of the most enjoyable teams to grace the plethora of novels I've read this year. The team members are witty and entertaining, and the way Hannibal lifts the curtains on their pasts makes for an intriguing tale. The close bonds the team forms not only creates a family feel, but allows for Hannibal to explore themes of faith in a surprisingly deep way, whether through the actions the team members make, to the emotionally raw conversations they have even in the midst of the most amazing con game with the highest of stakes! There is just so much to enjoy in this novel, especially if you love a well-crafted suspense novel like I do. As I already noted, the final chapters of the novel barely left me with time to breathe, and I entirely forgot what was going on around me in the real world as I raced with the characters towards the conclusion.
I can't quite tell if Hannibal will be treating readers to more novels in this series, but I certainly hope so! I award this novel a high rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

about the author....
James R. Hannibal is no stranger to secrets and adventure. A former stealth pilot from Houston, Texas, he has been shot at, locked up with surface-to-air missiles, and chased down a winding German road by an armed terrorist. He is a two-time Silver Falchion Award winner for his Section 13 mysteries for kids and a Thriller Award nominee for his Nick Baron covert ops series for adults. James is a rare multi-sense synesthete, meaning all of his senses intersect. He sees and feels sounds and smells and hears flashes of light. If he tells you the chocolate cake you offered smells blue and sticky, take it as a compliment.
