Description of Bible as provided by the publisher:

One of the best ways to get to know God on a deeper level is to know his names and titles as revealed in Scripture. Now the bestselling author of Praying the Names of God and Praying the Names of Jesus uncovers the richness of God's character and love found in his names right within the Bible text.

The Names of God Bible restores more than 10,000 occurrences of specific names of God--like Yahweh, El Shadday, El Elyon, and Adonay--to help readers connect with the Hebrew roots of their Christian faith and experience a deeper understanding of God's character. Perfect for personal study, prayer, and reflection, The Names of God Bible includes many special features, including:
  • More than 10,000 names and titles of God restored to their Hebrew equivalent and printed in brown ink to stand out within the biblical text
  • Names of God reading paths lead readers to the next reference of the name so they can pray and study the names of God throughout Scripture
  • Calling God by Name sidebars shed light on the relationship between biblical people and the specific names they called God.

MY REVIEW

The Names of God Bible is an absolutely fantastic treasure! I found reading passages in the Bible to be so much richer by knowing the name for God that was specifically used in that passage, especially in the Old Testament and in particular the Psalms. Knowing that the author was referring to God as "the Lord who heals" or "Consuming Fire" or so many other names provides a deeper understanding into God's word. I thought that the introductions to each book of the Bible were well-written, as were the devotional name pages spaced throughout the Bible. I especially appreciated the "reading paths" that have been incorporated into the Bible, allowing me to go through the Bible reading where a specific form of God's name is used, something I've never been able to do before. I must also say that although I've never read this version of the Bible (God's Word Translation), I found it clear and easy to understand and I really enjoy it.

God is so amazing, and this version of the Bible helps highlight his majesty and wonder and complexity. I will treasure it and use it for years to come.

I highly recommend this version of the Bible and give it 5 out of 5 stars. Definitely consider this Bible as a gift for someone this Christmas!
